What is Kylix? Kylix is , a
component-based development environment for two-way visual development
of GUI, Internet, database, and server applications, will be powered by
a new high-speed native Linux C/C++/Object Pascal (Delphi) compiler that
will implement a Linux version of the Borland Visual Component Library
architecture.
Here is Borland's definition of
Kylix "
Why the big fuss about Kylix?
When Kylix is released, thousands of applications will
immediately be available on the Linux operating system. In
addition, Linux developers are cr
ying for an effective RAD environment
-- they hope that Kylix will fit the bill.
Which
Linux GUI will Inprise use for Kylix? Qt, the base
library for KDE. According to Borland..."based on performance
and cross-platform Linux and Windows support, Qt was the obvious choice
for Kylix".

| The
response to Kylix has been astonishing! We launched theworld's
first native RAD tool for Linux at Linux World Conference and Expo
on January 31, and immediately received a prize for "best
development tool" from the show sponsors. Since then,
articles have begun to appear in all the industry trade magazines
and newspapers. John Kaster has gathered links to this outstanding
coverage here: http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,26836,00.html
