Using 3rd Party Tools...

Using 3rd Party Tools to Speed Development, Enhance Performance and Empower the End-User, Part I

We all like to crunch code (well most Delphi geeks do).  The problem is that the end-user could care less about our bit blasting skills.  The end user wants it pretty, fast,, powerful and oh yeah...yesterday.  Good 3rd party tools help us to be efficient and creative (by keeping us from reinventing the wheel).  These tools also help us to tame the beast that is the end-user.

This presentation will document the use of several 3rd party tools used to address efficiency, performance and power issues.  The award winning tools include: IBObjects, InfoPower 3000, Reportbuilder Pro and TExtraDevices.

 Bye, bye BDE

Larry will discuss using IBOjects as a BDE replacement for connecting Ito nterbase.  Using IBO enhances performance, simplifies distribution and negates the need for Enterprise level software for some C/S and multi-tier apps.  Larry will demonstrate converting a BDE app to an IBO app..

Data Filtering - Have it your way

Larry will discuss an application which allows the end user to create and store data filters in a data base.  Filters can easily create and morphed.  Very little code was written to enable this functionality -- thanks to those great third party tools.  Larry will discuss code modifications that make this work.

Flexible End-User Reporting Using Those Filters.

Filtering data easily is OK but what can I do with that filtered data?  How about creating storing and morphing reports that run against the filtered data?  How about outputting those reports to a printer, MS Word, MS Excel, PDF, ASCII text, or HTML at the push of a button?

 Hmm this is getting interesting...

 See you at HADP!
